The Pinellas County Healthy Department has always recognized
the importance of chronic disease prevention. Along with many community partners, we have made a new commitment to make
a difference in the health outcomes for the minority population
in Pinellas County.
Historically, African Americans/Blacks, Asians and Pacific
Islanders and Hispanics do not fare as well as their White
counterparts with disease prevention and survival. In fact,
studies have shown that some minorities are at higher risk
for certain illnesses such as cancer, cardiovascular disease,
influenza, and pneumonia.
We are committed to making available health resources and screenings more accessible in order to reduce racial and health disparities in the communities of Pinellas County.
