The local Office of Minority Health (OMH) was created in 2000 right after Governor Jeb Bush signed the Patient Protection Act at the Pinellas County Health Department. This historical and important act created the Closing the Gap program, which aims to reduce racial and ethnic health disparities in Florida communities. As a result of the Closing the Gap program, we are able to work together with local partners to carry out our mission to successfully address the health disparities affecting our local community.
